The August Convening: In the name of all things BLAC (that’s Black Liberation And Cooperativism, for the uninitiated), we hit a milestone this August. Our inaugural BLACspace Seed Members gathered for the very first time, stepping into the BLACspace ecosystem.

For those who’ve been following our journey, you’ll understand the weight of this moment; it’s been years in the making. We laughed through Mutual Aid Bingo, sparred in BLAC Jeopardy, brushed up on political education, introduced conflict resilience into our toolkit, feasted abundantly, and called in our honorable ancestors to bless and support us as we embark on this cooperative path. This was the first step of a thousand-mile journey and, trust, we’re walking it in good company. A special toast to Creative Director Sharee Adriazola of MyGrooveDesign, who opened her West Oakland loft to us; the perfect setting for such a debut.
