
Anyka Howard
Anyka Howard is an Oakland-born mother, artist/activist, and veteran cultural strategist whose work sits at the intersection of art, community, and liberation. As the founder and director of the award-winning former Betti Ono Gallery, Anyka now leads the newly established Betti Ono Foundation, carrying forward a bold new blueprint. She has led over 60 exhibitions and public programs that center artists of color and build cultural power. With a career spanning roles at the Oakland Museum of California and the San Francisco Foundation, Anyka has mobilized millions in investments to support arts equity and prevent displacement in communities of color. She co-founded the Oakland Creative Neighborhoods Coalition, securing major policy wins for cultural preservation, and continues to design transformative strategies that uplift Black creative ecosystems. Grounded, bold, and deeply rooted in both Oakland and New Orleans, Anyka’s leadership transforms culture into a tool for justice.
