Buying Back Oakland, designed to bring clarity, connection, and collective power to the process of reclaiming space in our city. The training equipped participants with a grounded understanding of the legal, financial, and cooperative models needed to pursue community-based real estate projects.

We built a shared language around ownership and governance, laying the foundation for collaboration and peer support among Oakland’s Black arts and culture leaders. Rooted in real, ongoing property acquisition efforts within the BLACspace ecosystem, participants had the chance to workshop their own real estate visions.
