We are excited to shine a community spotlight on the uber talented, Oakland-based portrait Photographer and Cinematographer, commonly known as @pablocirca on Instagram. Pablocirca’s ongoing “legacy archive”, a series of black and white film photographs, has captured the soul of Oakland within 8 square-block zone in downtown Oakland.

The work is simply captivating:

Pablocirca states in a 2024 interview with The Oaklandside, “My intention is to connect with the community, offer restorative energy and reflect the beauty of the city I’ve called home for past 18 years. My work is a collection of all of the moments that inspired me to action. It’s an open love letter to the people that occupy these streets, sidewalks and buildings.”

Pablocirca’s work is characterized by an intense focus on emotional depth and complexity of his subjects. Whether it’s a snapshot of a stranger on the street or a carefully composed portrait in a studio, he seeks to capture the essence of the human experience in its raw, unfiltered glory.

Ultimately, his goal as a photographer is to connect with the viewer on a deep and visceral level, inviting them to see the world through his eyes and to feel the same sense of empathy and compassion that drives his work.

See more of his work on www.pablocirca.com. Bravo!
